Who's a lifestyle blogger?
A lifestyle blogger is someone who blogs or creates content about their daily life experiences, most importantly, things around or related to their environment. It can be health, nutrition, beauty, makeup, etc. They can even blog about their lifestyles.
Who's a niche blogger?
A niche blogger is a content creator, who specifically, focuses on a particular niche or category. For example, if you open a blog and focus only on educating people on how to make money online, then you're a niche blogger because about 80 or 90% of your blog post on that website will always target how to make money online.
Niche blogging is the most popular form of blogging today. As a niche blogger, you'll likely gain authority in your field because of your expertise in that area.
However, in lifestyle blogging, things are a little bit different. A lifestyle blogger writes about his/her daily life experiences like travels, favorite meals, best sports and entertainment, and everything you can think of.
Most people hate the idea of lifestyle blogging because most of the topics discussed are solely based on the daily experiences of the author and may be of little relevance in terms of Search engine optimization ( SEO). I mean most of the topics discussed may not necessarily be what people are searching for on the net. But In his article, 'll show you how to write contents that will solve users' problems and bring people directly from search engines( organic traffic) to your website/ blog even though you're a lifestyle blogger.
Advantages of lifestyle blogging
There are many benefits of being a lifestyle blogger, let's consider some of them:
1) freedom to share different experiences with your audience.
As a lifestyle blogger, you have the freedom to talk about almost anything in life and share it with your audience. Unlike niche blogging where you are restricted to a specific category, a lifestyle blogger has different topics to cover and so this keeps the audience properly engaged.
2) opportunity to promote different brands and their products.
Since lifestyle bloggers are not tied down to only one field, they have the opportunity to promote different brands and products and make money from them.
3) You'll have a larger fan base.
Since you're writing on different topics, there's a possibility to have different people at your disposal who'll share the same idea as you do.
As a lifestyle blogger, you still want people to read your blog and follow you even though most of your topics are personal. Of course, that's the reason you open a blog on the internet that can be accessed by anyone in the world. Otherwise, you'll record your experiences in a journal and keep your ideas Private.
Disadvantages of being a lifestyle blogger.
Just like every other thing, below are the disadvantages of being a lifestyle blogger:
1) It can take long before you start making money as a lifestyle blogger.
If you're willing to wait for five or more years to make money as a blogger, then that is fine by you but if you're the type that wants to make money within a short period in blogging, then you may not want to be a lifestyle blogger.
The point is that it takes a long time to establish authority as a lifestyle blogger. People want to buy products from someone who they consider as an expert in a certain field, as a lifestyle blogger, it might take you along to develop this trust with your audience.
2) it's harder for people to understand what you're good at.
I know most people don't like the word expert because, to them, an expert can mean 10 years of experience in a particular field. But that's not what I'm talking about here.
By expert, I mean you've made some mistakes in a particular thing and over some time, you've been able to learn from those mistakes and can offer practical advice to someone who wants to follow the same path. That's what it means to be an expert in any given field.
As a lifestyle blogger, you're likely to discuss different topics like health, beauty, fashion sports, etc on one blog and this may confuse your audience because they may not know the one you're perfect at from all of those topics that you're discussing with them.
When people think of you and your brand, they should think of a specific thing that you can provide them with the solution anytime any day, it's just hard to achieve this fit in lifestyle blogging.
3) It might be hard to sell your products.
As a lifestyle blogger, you're likely to attract a wide range of people to your blog since you're sharing your experiences with them from different walks of life.
But the point is, when you decide to create and sell your products, you may have a hard time doing that because only a fraction of your audience may be interested in the product(s) that you're trying to sell them. So Selling your products may be a big challenge to you as a lifestyle blogger unless you understand your audience's needs very well.
